ENDOPHYTIC FUNGI WORKSHOP
INTRODUCTION TO ISOLATION OF ENDOPHYTES AS A SOURCE OF BIOACTIVE METABOLITES
Date: Thursday-Friday, 12-13 September 2024; 08.00 – 16.00 WIB
Place: Laboratory of endophytic fungi culture
Department of Pharmacy Universitas Islam Indonesia in collaboration with Research Center for Biosystematics and Evolution, National Research, and Innovation Agency (BRIN) are glad to invite you to attend our workshop in fungal endophytes exploration.
Endophytic fungi are considered a new source of bioactive compounds that have important applications to human health/medicine and various applications in agriculture and biotechnology. In this workshop, we will introduce bioprospection of endophyte, culture-isolation, identification, major classes of fungal endophytes, and isolation of metabolites. This workshop is recommended for researcher who are targeting to isolate novel antimicrobial and anticancer agents.
The practical session will provide participants with hands-on experience in addressing fungal diversity, isolating, and cultivating filamentous fungal isolates, and screening for secondary metabolites.
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
- Select appropriate plants for endophyte isolation
- Isolate pure strains of filamentous fungi
- Culture, molecular identification, and cryopreservation of fungal strain
- Extraction, isolation, and identification of fungal secondary metabolites
Instructor:
- Asih Triastuti (UII)
- Muhammad Ilyas (BRIN)
Facility:
- Workshop kits
- Hands on
- Door prize
- Lunch and snack
